The Vinho, Queijo e Azeitonas – Classic cars (Wine, Cheese and Olives) it’s a Classic cars tour in the Alentejo whose name says it all!

If you have a classic car, over 40 years old, this tour is for you.

After organizing 4 tours in Portugal with 7 days each, covering about 1000 miles in each one, from north to south, we decided this year to take some shorter classic car rides, to go “warming up” for the 2021 event of 7 days!

The Alentejo will be the area to travel this time, more precisely the region of the so-called “White gold”. It is a very rich area, with fabulous landscapes, very thin roads and passage through towns and villages lost in time, as we like so much!

The program is rich in gastronomic surprises and visits to producers with fun and interesting projects.

The company is always, from our experience, super pleasant!

After the success of the 25-27 September 2020 edition, we decided to repeat and enjoy the big days to the limit!

Day 1 - Arrival

Arrival in Hotel Pateo dos Solares

18h00 – Opening of the secretariat – Distribution of materials – maps, road books, poles, caps, stickers for the ride of classic cars

22h00 – Briefing – in ample space, with physical distance

The Hotel Pateo dos Solares it results from the recent recovery of a building integrated in a 17th century bastion of the wall of the town of Estremoz, in fact occupying the space of the old fortress of S. José, near the Porta de Nossa Senhora or the Currais, opened in the new fence. The original building had numerous uses, even functioning as a bakery, and is now a luxury inn.

Day 2 - Towards the North Alentejo

We head northeast, towards the São Mamede Natural Park.The roads are so thin that it seems that we cannot cross another car… but there is also no one to cross!We visited Elvas, Castelo de Vide and Marvão. Alegrete, already lost in the vicinity of the border, will be excited by our passage! On the way back, we pass Alter do Chão, Flor da Rosa and the impressive geodesic landmark of Alter Pedroso.In Elvas, we challenge the skill of drivers, navigating streets that we never imagined existed!

Day 3 - Bacchus Pleasures

After checking out, with our bags, we headed south. The route takes us from the kingdom of Ouro Branco, the local nickname for Marble, and we stop to look at an impressive quarry.On the way, we visit Terena and her unshakable Sanctuary, which stands proud and resistant to the centuries. The Castle of Valongo is a must stop, and requires stretching your legs! Castle that is castle is conquered on foot !!! The Cork factory is a highlight of the route, and Pepe Aromas is a project full of grace! Here we have lunch, between mounted and cactus.The end of the day takes us to Adega da Fita Preta, located in a medieval property that still preserves the 14th century palace, recently restored after many years of neglect. Delicious wines by António Maçanita.We ended with a visit to the Serrado Collection by Pedro Villas-Boas.
