Description

This gastronomic tour in Évora is guided, combining the accommodation at an amazing convent built in the 15th century, located 2 kms from the historical centre of Évora and the visit to selected family owned projects, each one with their special history and unique features.

The days are all very different and include visits to wineries, artisans and producers of local specialties.

You will feel rewarded with the high knowledge of your local guide and the gorgeous landscape.

You don’t have to pack and unpack every day. Every morning you will meet your guide after a delicious breakfast and indulge on a beautiful day.

This is a very flexible gastronomic tour. Tell us what you like and we will do our best to adapt. As we meet you every day, it is very easy to adapt the tour to your preferences. After all, it’s YOUR holidays!

Note that the program was design for 1, 3 or 5 nights, but every other combination is possible. Also, if you prefer more variety on your days, ask for a program mixing walking, biking, van trips or even kayaking. Imagination is our limit!

Day 2 – Cork and wine

Through secondary roads, we will go from small family farms where little orchards and vegetable gardens are witnesses of a daily lifestyle, to bigger estates with serious agricultural projects.

The tour starts at the hotel, where the guide will take you to our first stop, Monte do Serrado de Baixo. This charming farmhouse is where this private classic cars collection is and where someone will show you this pleasant surprise!

Next stop is one winery, located in a medieval property with a 14th century’s palace, recently restored after several years left to abandonment”. You will be surprised with the surroundings, the precious palace, the quality of the wines and the hospitality.  Enjoy!

The tour continues in the direction of Igrejinha, a village where all houses are white with stripes of different colours, very typical from our local architecture.

Continue and discover all about the project located in a centenary and charming train station. They base product is prickly pears. And you can’t imagine what you can do with them!

For the end of the day we saved a very special visit: a cork factory. See how cork is transformed and learn about all you can do with it!

Day 3 - On our way to Monsaraz

Because this reality exists in Alentejo too, we start the day visiting a modern olive orchard with hundreds of hectare in an intensive and super intensive growth system. We will learn environmental issues of this exploration understand the new trend and taste olive oil.

Keeping our journey, we arrive to one of the most famous wine estates in Alentejo. Here, we have a wonderful couple of hours and a lunch that is a truly gastronomical adventure! In the afternoon, we climb Monsaraz, where we have time to enjoy this medieval beauty, as the majestic landscape to Alqueva, the biggest artificial lake of Europe.

On our way back home, we stop in another regional but modern place: a distillery where gin is produced, the trendy spirit in Alentejo. Visit the interpretative center doing a sensory experience connected to gin and it’s tasting.

Day 4 – Check out, morning visit to Évora

This is a day to explore Évora. With the help of our Flavors Guide, you can do it on your rhythm to know why the historical centre was classified as a World Site Heritage. But also, to find the other side of the heritage: the small traditional shops, the groceries with organic products, pastries and the conventual sweets, the stores with the regional flavors with their collections of wine, olive oil, jam, honey, chocolats… What a temptation!
